Lee Jong-suk was born on September 14, 1989 in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He is a South Korean actor and model. He debuted in 2005 as a runway model at Seoul Collection walkway, becoming the youngest male model to ever participate in Seoul Fashion Week. He debuted in the short film Sympathy (2005) and made his official acting debut in the South Korean television series Prosecutor Princess (2010). He also made his big-screen debut in the horror movie Ghost. . His breakout role was in the television series School 2013 (2012) and he is also well known for his roles in I Hear Your Voice (2013), Pinocchio (2014), Doctor Stranger (2014), W (2016), While You Were Sleeping (2017) The Hymn of Death (2018) and Romance Is a Bonus Book (2019).
Jong Suk has appeared in CFs for several companies and notably for CASS Beer Fresh with Kim Woo Bin and New Asics with Ha Ji Won.
He is a former SM Entertainment Trainee. He trained for 3 months as a rapper for an idol group called ‘Real’ but then quit. The group debuted with a different name. He also won Best New Actor at the 2012 KBS Drama Awards – for “School 2013”.
One of the most recognized awards in the Korean entertainment industry is the Gallap Korea survey. In a survey entitled ‘Actors Who Lit Up 2013’ Lee Jong Suk ranked in fifth place. He is also commonly known as one of the big four Hallyu stars along with Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Min Ho, and Kim Woo Bin.
On May 10, 2016, Lee Jong Suk signed an exclusive contract with record label, talent agency, and music production company, YG Entertainment but has since left YG Entertainment and started his own agency, partnering with YNK Entertainment.
Lee Jong-suk began his South Korean military service on March 8, 2019 and he is expected to be discharged on January 2, 2021. Due to a sever knee injury, anterior cruciate ligament damage, he suffered in a traffic accident when he was 16, he will not be on active duty but will work in public service.
