Dr. Romantic or Doctor Romantic, Teacher Kim (2016) [angmandakteo Gimsabu] is a South Korean television drama series directed by Yoo In Shik and Park Soo Jin. It stars Han Suk-kyu, Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin. It aired on SBS from November 7, 2016 to January 16, 2017. The second season of the drama aired on SBS from January 6, 2020 to February 25, 2020.
“Romantic Doctor Kim” is a “real doctor” story set in a small, humble hospital called Dol Dam Hospital. It is a story about people who meet Kim Sa Bu (Han Suk Kyu), a genius doctor, and discover “real love.”
Boo Yong-joo (Han Suk-kyu), is a genius and triple-board certified surgeon at the top of his field who worked at Seoul’s top hospital, Geosan University. After a traumatic incident, he disappears and changes his name to Kim Sa-bu, and begins working at a small hospital called Dol Dam located in Gangwon Province. He is now called “Teacher Kim” and refers to himself as the “Romantic Doctor”. When the small hospital is in trouble and needs more doctors, Kim Sa-bu recruits two doctors from a very large hospital, but he soon realizes they may not be able to do the job. Kang Dong-joo (Yoo Yeon-seok), a young man who grew up in poverty and became a doctor for the money and success. He seeks out only VIP patients to help him achieve the success he so desperately craves. Yoon Seo Jung (Seo Hyun-jin) is a passionate young surgeon who is haunted by a mistake from her past making her nauseous whenever she operates. Dr. Kim must now help them to become great doctors by teaching them to fight against power and money for the sake of their patients and, because of him, their lives will never be the same.
