Hotel del Luna (2019) [Hotel delluna] is a South Korean fantasy, romance, drama television series directed by Oh Choong Hwan. It stars Lee Ji-eun and Yeo Jin-goo as the owner and manager, respectively, of the eponymous hotel that caters only to ghosts. Written by the Hong sisters, it aired on tvN from July 13, 2019 through September 1, 2019. Hotel del Luna is the tenth-highest-rated Korean drama in cable television history.
The old rustic Hotel del Luna (“Guest House of the Moon”) is located in Myeong-dong, Seoul, in Korea. This hotel is not like any other hotel: its clients are all ghosts, and the hotel is not visible in its true form during the day. Human beings can only discover the hotel under special circumstances, for example, during a lunar eclipse.
Beautiful, fickle, suspicious and greedy, Jang Man-wol (Lee Ji-eun) is the CEO of Hotel del Luna. Because of an atrocious crime she committed, but can’t remember, she has been made to serve the clients passing through the hotel for 1300 years. She must cater to the dead before they continue through the cycle of reincarnation. As a result of manipulation by Mago (Yi-suk Seo), who controls the life and death of people passing through the hotel, Jang Man-wol meets Gu Chan-sung, a father who makes a deal that his son will work for her in 20 years in return for his own life and riches. With his new found fortune and life, the father takes his son, Ku Chan-sung (Yeo Jin-goo), abroad where the young man grows up as a sincere perfectionist, level-headed, but with a soft heart. Ku Chan-sung graduates from Harvard with an MBA. After his father’s death in the United States, Ku Chan-sung returns to South Korea to be an assistant manager at a multinational hotel corporation. When he is faced by Jang Man-wol, Ku Chan-sung ends up fulfilling the agreement his father had made and becomes the manager of Hotel Del Luna.
Also working at the hotel are the previous manager No Joon-suk (Jung Dong-hwan), Kim Seon-bi (Shin Jung-geun) an employee and bartender at the hotel, Choi Seo-hee (Bae Hae-sun) the housekeeper, Ji Hyun-joong (Pyo Ji-hoon) the hotel receptionist, the spirit of Jung Soo-jung / Kim Yoo-na (Kang Mi-na) as an intern.
