Meet Hyun Bin

South Korean actor Hyun Bin was born as Kim Tae-pyung on September 25, 1982. He became popular for his role in the romantic comedy television drama My Lovely Name Sam-Soon (2005- ). He has since appeared in leading roles in other successful television shows including romantic fantasy drama Secret Garden (2010–2011), fantasy drama Memories of the Alhambra (2018–2019), and romantic comedy Crash Landing on You (2019–2020). Hyun Bin became even more popular by starring in a series of box office hits films including the action thriller film Confidential Assignment (2017), and the crime thrillers The Swindlers (2017) and The Negotiation (2018) as well as in the horror film Rampant (2018).

Hyun was born and raised in Seoul and has one older brother. He graduated from Youngdong High School and then studied at Chung-Ang University, where, in 2004, he majored in Theater Studies. In 2009, he enrolled at the same university to obtain a Master’s degree.

Hyun Bin drew praise from critics for his performance in a Kim Tae-yong’s melodrama Late Autumn (2010), which screened at 61st Berlin International Film Festival. He has been nominated for numerous awards throughout his career, including best actor awards and most popular actor awards. He was nominated for five Baeksang Arts Awards, winning the Daesang Grand Award for Secret Garden (2010). He was nominated for an SBS Drama Award for Top Excellence Actor in a Mid-length Drama for Hyde, Jekyll, Me (2015) and for an Annual Soompi Award Actor of the Year for the same series. receiving among others the Most Popular Actor Award (Film) at the 42nd Baeksang Arts Awards for A Millionaire’s First Love.
